Welcome to #NotBadNews, our new (and hopefully short-lived) daily column where we round up the good, surprising, and weird things that have happened around the world during this coronavirus pandemic.
Your Newest Dinner Guests
Some restaurants in the U.S. are beginning to reopen, and a few have an idea for ensuring that their numbers remain within the acceptable rates. In Virginia, some luxury restaurants are beginning to fill 50% of their seats with mannequins.

A little weird, sure. But does it keep people from asking for the intentionally empty table–it definitely does!
Entertainment Weekly’s Pride Tribute
With Pride Month approaching, Entertainment Weekly had to rethink their June issue. While each year they feature artists of the LGBTQ+ community on their cover, they needed to reconsider how to create such a cover during quarantine. Not only were they worried about the photo, but how to bring hope and excitement to a community whose yearly celebration was being canceled.
The cover they came up with is truly exciting, working with an LGBTQ+ artist to illustrate a cover of some of the community’s most iconic celebrities.

While we were bummed to learn that Pride festivities were being pushed (though understandably), this cover has us feeling excited for June again!
Who Let the Goats Out?
Well, someone left the gate open. After heading out for a quick errand, this resident came home to find that his street had been taken over by goats.
I’m dead When I got back from the store all the goats had broken through the fence and were recking havoc on our street

Definitely not something we expected to come out of quarantine, but we can’t deny that it’s funny. We’re curious how herding went (and hopeful for another video).
A Parade of…Well, Everything
This Detroit neighborhood held what appears to be an everything-but-the-kitchen-sink style of parade, everyone is welcome and no costume is rejected. They gave us zoo animals, Disney characters, and even prehistorical beasts—nothing was off limits, and the results were awesome!
They were looking to keep their kids entertained during quarantine, and this parade did just that.
Uganda’s Newest Babies
The endangered mountain gorilla just welcomed two more to their family in Uganda’s Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Just two years ago this animal was listed as critically endangered, but as the population has continued to grow, they have moved up to endangered. This gives us serious hope for their future!
There’s no better way to end this column than with a baby animal–better yet, a baby animal helping its species make a comeback!
Check-in every day for an update on the wonderful and weird things happening in our current coronavirus world.
